The first time that I went to Conguillio I was three years old. I don't remember anything about this travel but my family always talked wonder things about this place. So much so that we went again when I was twelve years old. Only with the road, I was impressed with the beautiful landscape.
The national park of Conguillio is located in the Araucanía, Chile. This is a protected area, but you can go to visit it for a day and, even, camp there. My family and I camped for fifteen days in 1994. We walked for nature trails and went to all tours with the park rangers. They showed us the many kinds of trees, the birds and its songs, and many others wonders of this place.
I returned to the park last year. Many things have changed, like had more people, had trash in the nature trails and poor place to camp. However, if you can go to Conguillio, you won't regret it.

It's so sad when the tourists damage the environment. I hope the state protect better this place.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is terrible as tourism affects this type of natural environment, it is nice to be able to visit new places but it must be done with the responsibility of taking care of the natural landscape. And the fifteen days camping? How was this experience?
ReplyDeleteHow nice to be fifteen days camping with the family in a wonderful environment like Conguillio! I imagine that it is an indelible memory. I only know Temuco from the Araucanía region, I would love to be able to visit the region more and visit places like Conguillio and its surroundings
ReplyDeleteHi Diego, I agree with you about the impact of a big number of people in places like Conguillio. This summer I went to Carretera Austral, and saw with pain beautiful places with garbage and remains of bonfires not allowed. I hope that people become more aware of the care of these incredible places.
ReplyDeleteDiego, it's unbeliavable! fifteen days is two weeks! wunderful, amazing experience. When I read the first time your story I think in fifty days, jajajaj, my mind can't be imagined at most personal experience a family can be live in fifty days in a natural reserve. I think would be so hard. So, I read again and I made me fathom the importance of language! jajaja Than you for share this beautiful place, I Like so much the araucaria in your picture.
